Roast My Style
Short version: we use your photos only to analyse your outfit and delete them automatically after 7 days. We do not sell your data. We do not build an ad profile from your photos.
Photos you upload. When you submit a photo for analysis, the image is uploaded to secure cloud storage (Supabase, EU region) and sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your style critique. If you are a Premium subscriber and request a “Glow-up” render, the photo is additionally sent to OpenAI's Images API (gpt-image-2) to generate the edited outfit. The photo is stored for a maximum of 7 days and then automatically and permanently deleted by a server-side process. We do not keep originals beyond this window.
Anonymous identifier. The app creates an anonymous account on first launch so we can track your daily usage quota (3 free analyses per day). This identifier is a random UUID — it is not linked to your name, email address, or any personal account unless you choose to contact us.
Usage events. We collect product analytics (for example: app opened, analysis started, paywall viewed) using PostHog. These events are linked to your anonymous identifier (not to a name or email) so we can understand how the product is used and improve it. This data is not shared with advertisers and is not used for cross-app tracking.
Crash reports. If the app crashes, a stack trace and basic device information (model, OS version) are sent to Sentry for debugging. No personal data or photo content is included in crash reports.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, RevenueCat manages your subscription and notifies our server of your entitlement status. Your subscription state is stored linked to your anonymous identifier — not to a name or email.
Notification token. If you turn on notifications, the app generates a device push token and sends it to Expo's push service to deliver reminders and weekly Ranks results. The token is stored linked to your anonymous identifier. It is not an advertising identifier, and we do not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
Photos you choose to share publicly. The app includes an optional public weekly “Ranks” feed. It is off by default. If you opt in (via an in-app consent prompt), the analysed photo, its score, and an auto-generated pseudonymous handle are shown publicly to other users. An automated content check runs before any photo is published; other users can report or mute entries, and entries with multiple reports are hidden automatically. You can opt out at any time, which hides all of your entries. We never publish anything to this feed unless you opt in.
The AI is instructed to evaluate only your clothing: cut, colour, silhouette, layering, and accessories. It is explicitly prompted to ignore faces, body shape, age, and any characteristic unrelated to what you chose to wear. You may appear in photos you submit; those likenesses are not analysed, stored separately, or used for any purpose other than the styling critique you requested.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to:
You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, directly in the app: Settings → “Delete my account & data”. To exercise any other right, email us at [email protected]. Because your account is anonymous, please include your anonymous user ID from the app settings if available, so we can locate your records.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA), and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may exercise your deletion right in-app (Settings → “Delete my account & data”) or by emailing [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
The app carries a 9+ App Store age rating and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. Material changes will be notified through an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance.
